However, when two loved ones are kidnapped by Curtain, who remains at large along with his elusive Ten Men, the members of the Mysterious Benedict Society undertake a different sort of scavenger hunt – one marked by danger, daring escapes, and dastardly traps. As a means of a reprieve and a chance to reunite, the four young heroes are poised to go on a global adventure as a present from their benefactor, Nicholas Benedict, a narcoleptic genius. Plot-wise, The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey, penned by Trenton Lee Stewart, serves as a solid follow up to the events of The Mysterious Benedict Society where Reynie Muldoon, Sticky (aka George) Washington, Kate Weatherall, and Constance Contraire, through their wits, smarts, and sheer nerve, escaped the clutches of the nefarious Ledroptha Curtain and his mind-control device, the Whisperer.
